Position Description:  Glass Artwork & Design Specialist

Reports to: Production Manager


We are a mid-sized glass fabricator and we need a good, creative graphic designer for our company. We need someone who can both create original artwork to make beautiful, eyecatching designs, and is comfortable working with existing, client-provided artwork. We work primarily with a huge inkjet printers and print on glass primarily but can print on other substrates. And, the possibilities for creativity are endless. The position we are offering will be responsible for creating and manipulating digital artwork for printing (on glass). Please go to this link to see what we do and what we will need from YOU. We need someone who can set type meticulously, can kern with the best of them, knows all the rules in the Bringhurst book. You must be able to work easily in the Adobe suite, primarily in Illustrator and secondarily in Photoshop, and then the rest, Word, Acrobat etc. You will create original art and layouts which will include both printed glass samples as well as production glass for our projects. You will be responsible to ensure that digital files are created and work with our printer. You will work with our team (fun!) and also at times directly with clients to clarify artwork requirements to produce samples and to produce our finished products. We are a small company and you will run the studio. You will BE the studio. You will have state of the art hardware to work with and lots of responsibility to make it work. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with clients to clarify artwork requirements and/or secure digital artwork and graphics files
  • Edit and manipulate digital files to meet IMG and client requirements using Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, Photoshop and other computer graphics software as required
  • Be able to match digital patterns by scanning and editing artwork
  • Support ripping files and sending them to the IMG UV inkjet digital printer for samples and production glass
  • Work with management to assist with the creation of IMG patterns and products that can be marketed to the A&D (Architecture & Design) community
  • Work with IMG’s marketing and web development team to get the IMG patterns and products onto the IMG website
  • Work closely and effectively with the Imagic team to successfully deliver on all client commitments
  • Provide excellent service and customer care

Required Skills

  • Post-secondary education preferably in graphic arts and/or graphic design
  • Experience with pattern design an asset
  • Demonstrated experience with Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, Photo Shop and other computer graphics software
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • High precision and attention to detail
  • Works well individually as well as part of a team


  • $50,000 and up plus bonus dependent on experience
